Sivi-Iveco Trakker 560

When I visited Nizzoli Trasporti from Lonate Pozzole (I) in 2010 these 2 Sivi-Iveco's where at the yard.

One of the 2 Sivi's was pulled out of line, both trucks are identical. It's the Euro 5 version of the 8x6 heavy transport tractor, equiped with the 560 hp Cursor engine. The cab on these models is the smaller Active Time version, the wide Stralis cab doesn't come with the Trakker series.

The sideview shows a large cover in front of the bumper, a heavy drawbar coupling is mounted underneath it. It's a heavy Astra coupling that can be used to push other combinations.

The chassis is an 8x6, which means that the front axle and both rear axles are driven. Between them hangs the dropbox that divides the power to the front and the rear. This one has 2 gearings, the lower gearing gives more torque to the wheels.

A small box has been mounted between the axles. The rear of the chassis has only got a mounting plate for a heavy couling, the coupling itself is missing.

The tower behind the cab holds the dieseltank, beside it stands the mufler and a small watertank. Furthermore it holds the battery compartment and some air barrels. The left side is filled with additional cooling, for the engine and the gearbox. Beside the cooler lies the heat exchanger that is part of the cooling system of the gearbox, it transfers the heat that is produced by the WSK 440 torque converter and the retarder.

This side also holds a toolbox. We see 2 twistlock mounting at the chassis, 2 more are present in front of the fifth wheel, they can hold a ballast box.

The Ad-Blue tank is mounted behind the front mudguard. The chassis height of an 8x6 is offcourse heigher, which is clearly visible here.

On of the jobs at Nizzoli is transporting parts for wind turbine's. The Italian turbine's often are installed on hills and mountains, often without any decent roads. Here the additional traction of an 8x6 comes in handy.

Impressive sight!
