Mercedes Arocs 3363 - LMC
This Mercedes Arocs 3363 has been running with LMC SA / Raymond Rithner SA in Monthey (CH) since 2015.
It's a 6x4 tractor unit with the 625 hp OM473 engine with 15,6 liters and the StreamSpace cab. At the front we see the typical oversize width lights of Switzerland.
From the side we notice the flaps of the SLT trucks, back then only to be seen on 4-axled trucks. On this 3-axled tractor with short wheelbase they where also installed, as it also has a tower hidden behind the cab.
This conversion was done by Mercedes Molsheim, the factory also responsible for the SLT's. Nowadays a 6x4 version of the heavy SLT can be ordered from Molsheim, but then with a longer wheelbase as the cooler is now mounted behind the flaps like the current SLT models.
Behind the cab stands an additional engine cooler. That offers much more cooling capacity for the engine aswell as the retarder of the VIAB clutch, giving this truck an allowed total weight of 120 tons. A drawbar coupling can be seen at the end of the chassis.
The Arocs is being used with this 5-axled Goldhofer semi-lowloader, a STZ-L5-53/80. Last year it got a new trailer, again a 5-axled Goldhofer.
Both sides of the chassis hold similar dieseltanks. The rest of the space here is filled with batteries and the Ad-Blue tank, and a mufler on the other side.
Here a better view on this cooler. Most will have recognized it as the cooler that was used many years on the previous Actros SLT models (up to MP3). To the left of it stands the hydraulic tank, to the right a storage box.
A nice tractor, and as far as I know a one-of-a-kind build!
