Scania R580 - T.R.R.S.
This Scania belongs to the company T.R.R.S. from Toulouse, a subsidiary of Transports Courcelle.
It's a Scania R580 8x4*4, so with the 580hp V8 and a steering rear axle on the tridem.
It has gotten a tridem at the rear, as the heavy Fassi F1950 had to be mounted there.
In France these types of trucks are often used to install transformer stations. The body is just long enough to hold one of those stations. So in case they have to be installed on a very cramped location, it can shortly take the station on the body for the last meters.
A Fassi F1950RA.2.24 is installed at the rear of the chassis. This short crane only extends 4x to 11 meters and can still lift 12,5 tons there. This already shows that this crane was chosen for this heavy lifting work.
Enough stability to the rear is provided by the double extenable extra outriggers here.
This Scania is used with this 3-axled AMC-Castera drawbar trailer, it's allowed for 26 tons. The truck itself weighs almost 32 tons and is allowed for 44 tons combination weight.
A large storage cabinet was installed behind the cab. Under it are the heavy front outriggers.
A nice purpose built crane truck!
