Palfinger PCC 115002 - Nufam 2021
This Palfinger PCC115002 crawler crane was also displayed at the Palfinger stand at the Nufam.
The PCC series is a set of crawler cranes that Palfinger offers nowadays. The models range from the PCC57002 (here at the Bauma), the PCC71002 to the topmodel, this PCC115002.
These cranes have been made very versatile, with a separable upper- and undercarriage and very wide adjustable outriggers. Here the crane was connected to the 400V power grid.
When the crane is used with ballast, 8,5 ton for this crane, then it is hanging behind the foot of the crane. A small lifting table is installed in the uppercarriage, so that the crane can ballast himself. The crane is stable without the ballast, but with full outriggers. If the ballast is used, a narrower outrigger base can be used with 100% capacity of the crane.
The crane has the possibility of shifting, meaning it can slide along the outriggers. It can slide along in both directions. Without undercarriage it is also possible to only move the uppercarriage with this method. In the lowest position it only needs 2,6 meters of height for that, meaning it will fit through most doors.
The long hoses on this side connect the upper- with the undercarriage. The length is necessary to be able to shift the uppercarriage, while slowly following it with the undercarriage.
The PCC115002 is only 2,10 meter wide. With the 110kW CAT engine it can drive up to 5 km/h and up to 60% slopes are possible.
Here the white track plates are installed, meant for indoor use. But without these plate the original track is available for use in heavy terrain. As it stands here, without the 8,5 ton of ballast, it weighs about 35 tons (~24/25 ton upper-, 10 ton undercarriage). Both parts seperately can be transported without using permits.
The crane is not a standard Palfinger version, but one specifically built for this unit. The base crane extends 8x to 20,7 meter with 3,4 tons and with the PCJ170E jib 940 kg at 33,3 meters are possible. The maximum load on this jib with active DPS is 6,5 tons.
The outriggers are so long, that they can compensate for an incline of up to 8° and still keep the crane level.
Here a better look at the construction of the crane. The foot was built as low as possible to keep the height low. Other manufacturers install existing cranes as low as possible in the undercarriage, but with this seperable concept that was not possible. Beside the crane foot we see the winch. The telescopic boom has been placed a bit further to the rear, so that it doesn't collide with the crane foot when it folds down.
A very versatile machine that can be used for many jobs, but also a machine that already weighs more than the closest competition, the Jekko JF990. So the application probably decides which machine is best for which job.

Below you see a video of this machine on the show, displaying the shifting operation.
