Scania R480 - DSC Transports
This Scania R480 was owned by the company DSC Transports from St-Aubin (CH).
It was a special version that was built by Laxå. It has the special 8x4*6 axle configuration.
This configuration is basically a 4x4 with a 2nd front axle and a tag axle. This gives you a heavy chassis with a lot of traction, but that is still as manoeuvrable as the original 4x4 chassis.
The truck was equiped with the half-long cab and is driven by the 480hp 6-cylinder engine. At this side all free space was filled with cabinets.
The body can be taken of, so that it can be used as a tractor.
And the drawbar coupling let's you use with a drawbar trailer, like here.
A Palfinger PK85002 in F version was installed behind the cab. This one can lift a maximum of 25 ton and can reach up to 17,8 meters with 3,48 tonnes. With the PJ170E jib the outreach is increased to 30,6 meters with 980 kg capacity.
This side holds a small dieseltank and another large cabinet beside the crane.
A very nice axlecombination that is rather rare as a crane truck, even rarer as a Scania!
