This Scania R164G-580 8x4 belongs to P.L. Jessen from Fredericia (DK). |
It is a completely air suspended 4-axled Scania with a heavy Palfinger crane at the rear. It may transport up to 2,5 tonnes of load. |
The crane is a Palfinger PK130002 G that is rear-mounted. In driving position, as shown here, the boom is lying on the floor. |
A PK130002 has the same lifting values as a PK120000, only it is combined with the new PJ170 jib. In the tower behind the cab they placed some toolboxes and the oiltank for the crane. |
In order to have enough stability for the crane, the frame to the rear was lengthened and equiped with 2 more outriggers. The crane has been mounted by Hadsten Tipservice. |
This crane is used a lot in the harbour of Fredericia, therefore the fixed mounted outriggers to the rear aren’t a problem. |
A rare and interesting crane truck! Beside this one they also own a PK100002 and an Effer 850. |

Update - 05.04.20 |
The pictures from above are from 2006. In 2008 I again got to see this truck, now it was working. |
A power generator was deliverd here and had to be taken of the trailer. |
As this unit was near the max capacity of the crane, it was lifted over the rear of the truck.
Then the trailer was driven away, so that the generator could be put down directly behind the truck. |
Here we see the advantage of a strong rear mounted crane, as otherwise such loads would be difficult to unload. The rear outriggers are set down and provide a lot of additional stability here.
