Volvo FH16-750 - Niels Christiansen
This is the Volvo FH16-750 of Niels Lautrup Cristiansen from Aabenraa in Denmark.
It's an 8x4 chassis with the big 16 liter engine that produces 750 hp. The front of the chassis holds an additonal outrigger, but the chassis is not fully reinforced.
The chassis isn't to long, this way it stays manoeuvrable. They chose the non-planetery rear axle, they weigh less. On this side the Ad-Blue tank is mounted and some additional storage boxes around the crane.
A Palfinger PK165002 in H-version was installed behind the cab. That crane extends 9x hydraulically to an outreach of 20,8 meters with 4,9 tons of capacity. The oiltank is moved to this side, to provide room for the raised exhaust on the other side. As the crane was installed as close to the cab as possible, the outrigger on this side cannot tilt up anymore during road transport (it can still tilt when the outrigger is extended a bit). Normally it would tilt up to the front, but that would take away space between the crane and cab.
The crane and body where installed by the Palfinger Mounting Competence Center in Lengau. They installed a small flatbed behind the crane that can hold some lifting tools, like a pallet fork and a grapple for concrete plates.
The truck stays within the 32 tons regulation, so it can still pull up to a 4-axled drawbar trailer in Denmark, allowing for up to 56 tons total weight. With their trailer, that leaves about 15-16 tons of loading capacity.
On this side of the flatbed we see the PJ240E jib. This is put here when it not needed, it also gives a better weight distribution. With this jib, an outreach of 33,5 meter with 1120 kg is possible. The maximum capacity on the jib is 11,5 tons.
This side of the chassis holds some more toolboxes and a large dieseltank.
The 2 part exhaust is a good solution for such cranes, as the lower part sits between the 2 front axles and doesn't block anything, while the raised 2nd part can sit on top of the outriggers of the crane. This way it doesn't take up all the space on this side of the chassis.
They chose the Globetrotter cab, which matches perfect with the large Palfinger crane.
Another beautiful danish crane truck!
