Volvo FM480 - P.L. Jessen
This is a Volvo FM480 8x4 of P.L. Jessen from Fredericia (DK). Here you can already see another FM480 of them with a Palfinger PK100002.
The interesting part of this Volvo is the rear mounted Palfinger PK150002 crane. The concept of this vehicle is rather similar to their Scania R164 with rear mounted PK130002 that can be seen here. Still, a crane of this size is not seen so often as a rear mountd installation. The 150002 in G-version extends 8x to 18,8 meters with 4,8 tons capacity.
Stability to the rear is provided by these 2 very heavy rear outriggers. They are mounted at a fixed position to the frame. On top of them there is enough room for a lot of chains.
The crane was set up for some heavy winch work with the main crane. A manual extension piece is installed which holds one side ofthe block with 2 sheves, the other side is mounted to the main boom. The maximum winch capacity on this block is 17,6 tons.
